Saturday August 13th
We thought we’d have another try at getting up to Manning Park, and this time we had the perfect day.  Manning is about 70 miles away from Chilliwack at the top of the pass from Hope over to Princeton, and then there is a narrow road that goes up to the meadows high up in the mountains.

FAMILY VERSION

All of us went, in three cars, and we walked a couple of the trails.  It was a clear day, so we had great views of the Cascade Mountains, and there were still some flowers blooming over on the shady side of the mountain, and some ground squirrels and deer enjoying the sunshine.  It was good to see Rogan walking properly again, even if he doesn’t have the energy he used to.  He still likes to lead the pack, but Gracie can run rings around him.

We stopped off at the Hope Slide on the way back.  There was an earthquake here back in 1965, and a big chunk of mountainside fell down into the valley and obliterated the road.  Some of the victims were buried too deep for retrieval, so if you lost Aunt Agatha back in 1965, maybe she was driving this road at the wrong time.

This was the last evening that we’d all be together, so we made one last visit to the Canton Gardens for dinner.
