Then we were off back down the Frontier Highway we’d traveled up on Thursday, so nothing new to see.  We bounced our way down the frost-heaved highway until we left the rocks of the Canadian shield behind us.  The road smoothed out as we reached the Mackenzie lowlands and we rejoined the realm of the giant black flies.  The bison herd hadn’t moved far, still surrounded by their great cloud of attacking flies.  We had light rain but not enough to clean us up.

We crossed the Mackenzie River again via the Deh Cho bridge and rejoined the Mackenzie highway, this time going south east towards Enterprise.  We crossed the big Kakisa River and found that clouds of little black flies had joined the squadrons of mozzies and big flies; they didn’t seem to be any worse than Australia’s outback flies but they were a distraction.

We camped at Lady Evelyn Falls an impressive horseshoe falls with two smaller ones upstream.  We were camped directly above those and we had to close the door against the noise.

Tuesday June 18th
We had rain overnight but the morning was sunny.   The site had power so Sandie was busy zapping potatoes for future meals.  Then we took one more look at the three falls in the sunshine.
