We turned off at Cochrane, which seemed to have grown enormously since we first took this road in the 1980s, and headed up the 22, which was a gravel road back then, and across towards Didsbury and Art and Elsie ’s farm.  Art turned into the farmyard just in front of us.  He had been doing volunteer work up at the graveyard.

We asked why there are so many oil donkeys that don’t seem to be moving.  They said that if the oil companies shut down a donkey then they have to restore the ground to its original condition.  As this is very expensive, it is cheaper for them to just run them occasionally and pretend that they are productive.  The farmers, of course, don’t care as they continue to receive rent.
