2005/06 Alaska Trip - Road West - Harrison Lake |
|||||
Tuesday July 5th
The weather forecast was that the sun would last until lunchtime, so we made an early trip to Harrison Lake’s lagoon for Evan to splash around. Bob and Pat also treated us to a look at the sand sculptures. This was a fund raiser for the international competition that occurs each September. (Phil and I saw that back in 2000).
Sure enough, the clouds rolled in and the rain started soon afterwards. We drove up to Hicks Lake and Deer Lake, which have been developed as part of Sasquatch provincial park since our last visit, but it was too wet to do much.

Wednesday July 6th
It was still wet on Wednesday morning, so we declared it a shopping day and stocked up for our trip north. Our only excitement for the day was lunch at Earl’s in Chilliwack. However, Bob had a good day as he took delivery of a brand-new Hyundai Santa Fe. Bob was enthusiastic to try it out so he offered to drive down to Vancouver Airport the next day and collect John and Edna.
That seems to be a good point to end part 1 of this story. Part 2 will cover our trip with John and Edna out to Alaska’s Arctic Circle.
We wish you all the best. Love from Pete and Sandie
