Saturday February 14th
I went for an early-morning run along Dandenong Creek. This is a parkway that runs north-south with tunnels under the major roads, so there are about ten miles of traffic-free track in either direction from Mulgrave. By the time I came back the day was already hot and steamy.
Most of the day was spent getting ready for the wedding. It was taking place at Camelot Castle, out in the country just south of Yellingbo. The “castle” is in a pretty spot, in the Dandenong foothills, built specially for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
By mid-afternoon it was 39 degrees (100F) and, unusually for Melbourne, also very humid. As a result the “swamp coolers” most people use for air conditioning just don’t work. It was a tough afternoon for everyone in their mediaeval finery!
