2004/02 Prom and the Wedding - Cotters Lake |
|||||
Friday February 13th
This was our last day at the Prom and we took it easy after the long hike, and just drove around ![]()
the back roads looking for animals. I walked through the woods and across Cotters Lake down to the beach. The lake has been dry for years, and its bed is now a meadow full of flowers. I had the beach to myself. A birdwatcher from Adelaide arrived in the parking lot, all ready to go see the water birds in the lake. He probably found some birds but not the kind that he was expecting.

We saw an echidna on our way out of the park but it was too shy to let us take any decent pictures, and all we saw was its spines as it dug itself into the earth. (See part 3 for an echidna picture.)
Back in Melbourne I tried to book the ferry to Tasmania but it was booked up for the next 10 days, so we decided to reorganize the vacation, going to New South Wales first and Tasmania last. This wouldn’t be the best plan for the weather, but we didn’t have much choice.
