Our Provan Tiger CX has now been sold.

As US residents, we spent many months traveling around Canada's provinces and territories. However, now that we are Canadian residents, we find that we cannot import, register, or use our Tiger in Canada, as it is not on Transport Canada's list of approved vehicles. This makes no sense, of course, but governments don't have to.

We considered keeping the Tiger just for travel in the USA and Mexico, but we'd had to buy a pickup truck and camper for vacations in Canada, and couldn't really justify the cost of maintaining two similar recreational vehicles. Both have four-wheel drive and high clearance, but although we enjoy our pickup camper, it's a lumbering beast when compared to the more nimble and narrower Tiger.

The Tiger's easy transition from the driving area to the cooking space is also a real plus, particularly in bad weather or buggy spots.

The Tiger was our ideal vehicle, able to take us up logging roads to isolated lakes and up mining roads to ancient mine sites, but luxurious enough to keep us comfortable on trips of two to three months around North America. It took us on summer trips all around British Columbia, and into Alaska, the Yukon, Northwest Territory, and Labrador. In the winters we visited America's southeast and the remote deserts of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.

This page is a tribute to the Tiger's ability to take us to some wonderful places, campsites and picnic spots, many inaccessible to ordinary motorhomes, and often sites we enjoyed in isolation.
