2019/04 Panama trip - Garden night tour |
|||||
After dinner, we put our shoes back on and went out for a night walk with Moyo through the gardens and around the ponds.
We were looking for mammals but only found one, another possum. But there were plenty of toads, big ugly and familiar toads. These were cane toads, the ones that are infesting Australia, in their native environment; this is where they came from. In Panama the crocodiles and other predators have learned to avoid them and their poisonous bodies.

There were a few frogs and large spiders but the biggest surprise was a scorpion, munching away on a centipede.
This wasn’t down on the ground but rather on a branch at eye level.
