Our Halloween was a non-event. We were ready and armed with candy but no kids came to call. We didn’t even see any in the street. However, we found out later that we’d had bears in the street instead. Kids with fireworks had scared a mama bear and two cubs out of the woods into our street. The police were called and the cruiser’s lights chased them up a tree. The policeman stayed there with his lights going until all the kids were gone. The bears then came down and went on their way, a good ending for everyone
