2010/11 Australia trip - Rowville, Melbourne, and Hope |

Sunday November 7th
We were back at work cleaning the interior of the Troopie. The combination of cooking grease and dust makes for a powerful interior paint job, so there was a lot of scrubbing involved. It didn’t seem to be quite as bad as on our last trip in 2006, but that was a month longer.

Monday November 8th
This was our final shopping day. So we spent some more time at Stoplight and other stores. I wasn’t so successful: Target had run out of the short shorts that I’d liked.

Back at Amblecote Crescent, we had a frenzied packing session, trying to add souvenirs to what were already overweight suitcases. There was much use of the scales to equalize the suitcases and the carryons. Inevitably we ended up leaving more heavy stuff behind, boots and books, cluttering Edna’s closet.
Eventually we were done and I gave a late night slide show of our trip. We tried to remember the names of all the places we’d visited and remember where all the pictures were taken.
Tuesday November 9th
John and Edna were kind enough to get up well before dawn so that we could get to the airport for our 9 am flight to Sydney. Sandie’s carry-on carrying my CPAP machine and her bottles full of gems got special attention at both Melbourne and Sydney security, going through the scanners many times.
The flights went well as did the trains across Vancouver. We had about a six hour wait there as there are few buses during the day, but Greyhound managed to make it worse by giving our bus away to another group whose bus had gone missing. We ended up waiting another hour and a half for a replacement bus, so it was about a 32 hour trip door to door.
