Dear All,
This letter’s mainly about the trip to Europe, but we’ve also been pottering around trying to get some work done at home too. Sandie’s stripping the floor in Michael’s old bedroom, with a view to ending up with a varnished wood look, but it’s a long slow process.
I’ve finished off the basement bathroom, and I’m replacing screen doors. This is going even slower, as at the slightest excuse we go out for the day instead. This spring has been kind to us, lots of sunshine but not too hot, and no late blizzards.
It wasn’t so kind to our resident geese, Desi and Lucy. Lucy was out there sitting on the eggs, and every so often would get up and turn them all over. She didn’t seem to mind us sitting a few feet away cooking over our campfire. But then a few days of light rain brought the water up to their nest’s level, and probably killed off the eggs. A couple of days later we had torrential rain, our share of the storm system that killed all those people down south, and their island, nest, and eggs all disappeared. They moved out, though I think they’re the pair we see now with a few tiny goslings, so they must have found a better spot and started again.
We’ve also been to a couple of concerts. The bands really sound good at this end of the school year, but of course they have to reorganize and start again next September. Christina’s been campaigning for the band to tour Europe or England next summer rather than go to New York or Chicago like they did this year. Wonder how she plans on financing that?
