We needed a campsite, so we drove to Falkland and headed up into the hills, following the logging road, and soon found Woods Lake and grabbed the first empty campsite.  As this was a long weekend we felt lucky to find anything.  The lake had loons, ducks, flowers, and other campers.  It seemed strange to have neighbours after three nights on our own.

Sunday July 1st
The lake is in the middle of a maze of logging tracks and all we had to do was drive out to the south and join the main road.  We were aiming for the Salmon Lake Road.  We actually came out on Salmon River Road but didn’t notice the difference until we were thoroughly confused.  However, during our wandering we saw much beautiful country, some of it from each direction, and met many cows, and a few deer, before we came out to the Douglas Lake Ranch and the town of Merrit.
